Week 12 is now done in the #RunIntoMaddness on my way to doing the #BMOMarathon for #RunVan. This week closes with a new PR for a 10k race I competed the #Sooke10k with an official time of 1:01:41 over 9min faster than my previous best in a 10k, looks like Marathon training has been paying off (or it could be all the damn hills here in Esquimalt).
Whatever the result I am pretty stoked 6 months ago I had seems to be at a plateau in my sped and runs and was getting settled in to thinking I would just be slower, I do enjoy the slower runs but it is nice to know I can go faster without being out of breath or legs feeling like rubber.
At the end of this 10k I could have gone another 10k easy I think I was tired but not wiped as I have been int he past. One of the cool things that happened was when my oldest Ian helped run me in at the 100 meter mark, his burst of energy really helped me finish very strong.
This is one of the great things about running smaller races where you can have friends and family be there at the finish to give you that final burst of emotional support that helps you finish strong.
Please Support Canadian Vets:I am running a Marathon and since it is the only one I plan to run I am looking to support a great organization that supports Canadian Vets suffering from PTSD. The group is called Can Praxis and they use Equine (horse) Therapy to helps vets learn to deal with the emotions that come from PTSD. I am raising the money though Wounded Warriors Canada who will send the money direct to Can Praxis. Please support our vets by going here and donating what ever you can. If your Canadian you will also get a tax receipt for your donation.
